Mondo sizing chart
Ski boots are sized in mondo (mondopoint) — the shell length in centimeters, not your street-shoe size. Here's an accurate conversion from US men's and women's sizes to mondo, EU, and UK, plus how to choose between a comfort and performance fit. For a personalized number from your measurements, run the Boot Fit Engine.
What mondo size means
Mondo (mondopoint) is the shell length of the boot measured in centimeters — the global sizing standard for ski boots. A size 27.5 boot has a 27.5 cm shell length. Because it's based on actual length rather than a brand's shoe scale, mondo lets you compare fit across every brand (Mount Everest, Wayfinder Boots).
Boots often list three or four sizes on the box — US, UK, EU, and mondo — and they don't always agree. Mondo is the one that actually reflects the shell, so treat it as the source of truth (KnowSize).
The quick mondo → US rule
For a fast estimate, a US men's size is roughly the two digits of the mondo size added together. A mondo 29 fits about a US men's 11 (2 + 9 = 11); a mondo 27.5 fits about a US men's 9.5. For mondo 30 and up, add the digits and then add 9 — so a mondo 31 is about a US men's 13 (3 + 1 = 4, then 4 + 9 = 13) (Mount Everest).
This is a sanity check, not a substitute for the chart below — and women's conversion runs differently.
How to find your mondo size
- Stand on a piece of paper with your full weight on both feet. Mark the back of the heel and the tip of the longest toe.
- Measure that distance in centimeters. Do both feet and use the larger.
- Round down to the nearest half centimeter. That rounded length is your starting mondo size (Wayfinder Boots).
Most skiers then size 0.5 to 1.0 mondo smaller than their street-shoe equivalent for a snug, performance-oriented fit — ski boots are meant to feel tighter than shoes, not the same (Wayfinder Boots).

Comfort vs performance fit
Manufacturers often list two mondo sizes for the same US size: a comfort fit (closer to your street-shoe mondo) and a performance fit (about one mondo smaller). For example, a US men's 9 maps to a comfort 27.5 and a performance 26.5 (evo).
- Comfort fit — roomier, warmer, easier to get on. Good for beginners, casual skiers, and long resort days.
- Performance fit — snugger heel and forefoot for better edge control. The right call if you ski hard and your foot is stable in the shell.
As a rule of thumb, expect to go 0.5 to 1.0 mondo smaller than your street-shoe equivalent for a performance fit — but always confirm with a shell check: with the liner out, your foot should sit with about 1–2 cm of space behind the heel (Wayfinder Boots).
The Boot Fit Engine computes your mondo size, last width, volume class, and flex range from your measurements — and recommends brands that tend to fit your foot profile.
